ALEXANDER WANG FOR H&M

After speculation flooded the internet, H&M has finally confirmed its collaboration with high-end street wear designer Alexander Wang. H&M has been collaborating with other designers for 10 years now, making Wang the first American fashion house to do so.

Excited about his collection Wang had this say about the H&M plane for design:

"I am honored to be a part of H&M’s designer collaborations. The work with their team is an exciting, fun process. They are very open to push boundaries and to set a platform for creativity. This will be a great way for a wider audience to experience elements of the Alexander Wang brand and lifestyle."

Wang joins a long line of designer collaborations which include Versace. We can't wait to see his line!

Cowboy's, Indians, and Chanel?! Oh My!

Chanel and Karl Lagerfeld paid homage to the old west, staging their fashion show in an old barn like pavilion in Texas. Ever the topic of controversy, the pre-fall 2014 line flirted with lines of political correctness, joining the likes of Victoria Sercret, who also raised a few eyebrows when it showed a Native American headress back in 2012. Although it may be offensive, we'd be lying if we said the Navajo prints, and the spin on traditional cowboy garb didn't work. Check it out!

KTZ Giving Arctic Goth During London Fashion Week

I am totally feeling whatever inspiration Kokon To Zai (KTZ) was doing when it debuted it's A/W 14' collection. Showing bold patterns and even bolder textures, the label which is widely known for it's unisex approach when making clothing, transitioned from major black goth to icy white. The other transition from urban jungle street prints to arctic sophistication with the metallic face paint had me wanting more! Check out the pictures below!

Brillant!: Bobby Abley Debuts His A/W 14' Collection

Last week, Bobby Abley showed his autumn/winter 2014 collection at London Fashion Week. In what can only be described as Bad Ass, Ableys collection had clear influences of Seattle grunge rock, fetish, and the Mickey Mouse Club. This was a risk that definitely paid off! Combining traditional Disney fonts to spell Brains and RIP with metal mouth guard contraptions that gave the models a screaming appearance, Abley took us on a dark fantasy ride.

Inspiration of the Week: Versus Versace

Versus Versace is everything and more! The print-heavy collection launched October 16th and is designed by Sri-Lankan British rapper M.I.A. This bold collection showcases just why she is a staple in the fashion world. With an emphasis on bold color and prints, the 38-year-old singer says she was inspired by bootleg Versace prints she found in street markets as a kid growing up in East London.

"It's always been part of the M.I.A. culture -- to talk about bootlegs, and people that sell them or make them," said the singer. "When I was approached by Versace, it seemed like a good idea to take that and reverse the cycle. Versace designs have always been bootlegged, now it's Versace bootlegging the bootleg for the bootleggers to bootleg the bootleg. This is to keep that cycle going."

The "Paper Planes" singer created the 19-piece collection which mixes men's and women's styles including t-shirts, dresses, printed jeans and outerwear. It's an cheaper alternative to the traditional designs of the fashion house.

This is the second "Versus" collection after the Italian label decided to create a revolving door of creativity.

My Experience: Fashion Week Los Angeles

Style Fashion Week Los Angeles went down as the place to be Downtown Oct. 13th-17th. Being fairly new to the fashion blogging game, you can imagine the look of excitement upon my face when I got the invite. After a quick security check and walk down a long line of photographers along the red carpet, I entered the venue which was sponsored by BMW. Sitting fifth row from the actual runway may have seemed super close to the average concert goer or sports fanatic. However in a typical fashion show, these are considered the nose bleeds. After realizing I was staring a the back of Lindsay Lohan's head and seeing reality television personality Draya Michele (Vh1's Basketball Wives), the show was about to start. Now lets get to the fashion!

"M" The Movemet Spring '14 collection

Me walking the red carpet before the fashion show. Shoes: Steve Madden; Leather Vest: Nordsrtom; Harem Pants:American Aparel; Deep V-neck grey T-Shirt: H&M; Flannel Shirt: American Rag sold at Macy's; Wrist Ban: Nordstrom Rack

Although there were a lot of inspiring and up and coming designers who's work had been shown such as Mr. Triple X or "M" The Movement, a different vibe seemed to be in the designs which puts LAFW in a lacking position when comparing it to New York or Paris and its highly prestigious fashion weeks. First off there was a lot of ready-to-wear, which is fine, but where is the couture? Where is the one of a kind pieces that set one designer apart from the rest? Now I know it seems as if I disliked what I saw, which is the furthest thing from the truth; However one thing should be considered when thinking about LAFW. This is L.A! One of the fashion mecca's in the world! We set the trend for others to follow! With so many different types of style scenes such as hipster, goth, grudge rock, sophisticated chic, and urban glam just to name a few.In my opinion LAFW should be on the same level as Paris and New York, and for some reason it always falls short. I just wanted to see more inspiration, perhaps  stories being told through the clothing, while playing and taking risk on texture and architecture.

Here's to hoping next years LAFW will be more vamped with new inspiration and concepts!
